Jake Bartolo is a Maltese national and resident, proficient in both English and Maltese. Holding a Master in Accountancy with Distinction, and a Master of Science in Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies from the University of Malta, Jake combines a strong academic and technical foundation with practical expertise in his role as DAL’s lead consultant on Digital Assets – Regulatory & Capital Markets.
Jake began his career at PwC Malta as part of their advisory team, where he specialised in valuations, due diligence reports, data analytics and financial modelling. Following this, Jake then joined the Fintech team at the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), where he was involved in the overseeing and authorisations under the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) Regulation, the Virtual Financial Assets (VFA) Framework, and the Financial Institutions (FI) Act, thus having the privilage of forming part of Malta’s Digital Asset pioneering nucleus. At the MFSA, Jake reviewed applications and business models for entities such as Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs), Payment Institutions (PIs), and Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs). He also contributed to the MFSA Fintech portal by publishing industry insights on enabling technologies and innovation applications across financial services. Additionally, Jake is also the host of the Modern Alchemy newsletter, where he shares blockchain-related insights on LinkedIn and Substack with regards to emerging trends in the digital assets space.
