Advocate Cristina M. Tonna is a Maltese national and resident; holding a law degree (LLD) and Master’s degree in European & Comparative Law (LL.M) from the University of Malta, and additional studies and training in Corporate & Trust Governance and Compliance.

          Becoming a warranted member of the Malta Chamber of Advocates in 2011, and fluent in Maltese, English, and Italian, Cristina apprenticed with leading law firms in Malta, before joining the legal team in 2012, as an associate in the corporate department, focused on multi-jurisdictional contracts.

          Cristina, is a long-standing member of the Malta Bar, and Institute of Financial Services Practitioners; having significant experience in contract drafting, primarily in the area of pharma, and corporate. She has worked on many governance, and compliance matters, including licensing of more than 15 financial services entities ranging from investment funds to financial institutions, thus acquiring a broad range of expertise in multi-jurisdictional business, mergers and acquisitions, protection and management of international IP, and asset protection, governance and compliance.

International & GGI Focus

          Since 2016 she has also led the firm’s Italian desk, assisting our portfolio of Italian clients to expand, their business internationally via Malta as their Anglo-Saxon EU base, integrating both operational, as well as legal and contractual affairs.

          Having more than a decade of experience in the international corporate, and pharma field, she heads the legal team, and has developed the firm’s Media & Film team focusing on the negotiation and contracts between international and local film producers and financiers.
